General questions about working with Freedom Land Management. For questions specific to a particular service, check the land clearing, forestry mulching, excavation, or demolition pages — each one has its own FAQ section.
We work within about 60 miles of Burns, Tennessee. That includes Williamson, Dickson, Cheatham, Maury, Hickman, and Humphreys Counties. Williamson and Dickson Counties are where we work most often. If you’re near the edge of that range, call and ask — the answer usually depends on the size of the job.
Josh Tant, the owner. He runs the equipment on nearly every job himself. When a project needs a second operator or a second machine, he brings in people he’s worked with before. You won’t get handed off to a crew you’ve never spoken to.
Both. Most of the work is residential — homeowners and landowners with property that needs clearing, mulching, or site prep. Commercial work and subcontract work for builders and contractors are welcome too.
Call (615) 414-6851, or fill out the form on the contact page. Tell us where the property is, roughly how much of it you’re looking at, what’s growing on it, and what you’re hoping to do with it. From there we’ll set up a time to come look.
The address or general location, the approximate acreage, what’s on the ground now — mature trees, brush, saplings, an old structure — and what the end goal is. Building a house is a different job from opening up a view or reclaiming pasture, even on the same property.
Yes. Mobilization matters on this kind of work — hauling equipment in and back out takes time and cost whether the job is one hour or one week. Smaller jobs may not be a fit, and we’ll tell you that honestly instead of quoting something that doesn’t make sense for either of us.
It varies with the season and what’s on the books. The most accurate answer comes on the call. If you’re planning a spring project, reaching out over the winter is a good idea — that’s when the schedule has the most room in it.
Density of growth, terrain, acreage, how much material stays on site versus gets hauled off, site access, and travel distance. Two five-acre properties can price very differently. That’s why quotes come after seeing the land, not before.
Cash and check.
No. Every property is different enough that flat-rate pricing and blanket discounts don’t hold up. What you get instead is a free estimate and an honest number for the job in front of you.
It depends on the size of the property and how thick the growth is — some jobs are a single day, others run a week or more. You’ll get a realistic timeframe with your estimate rather than a guess.
Yes. Middle Tennessee doesn’t get enough snow to shut things down, and clearing, mulching, and demolition work don’t require perfectly dry ground. Wet stretches can slow a schedule, and heavy dirt work is more weather-dependent than clearing is, but this isn’t a seasonal business.
No, as long as we’ve walked the property together beforehand and the scope is clear. Plenty of jobs get done for owners who live out of state or can’t take a day off work.
