Burns, TN Land Clearing & Earthwork Services
Burns is a small town in southeastern Dickson County, sitting on the Western Highland Rim about five miles east of downtown Dickson. It began as a railroad grade camp called Grade 42 and became Burns Station in 1866, and the town still grows along its old routes: State Route 47 runs straight through the middle of town between Dickson and White Bluff, and Highway 96 bends around the west and south sides on its way to I-40 at Exit 182. North of town, Montgomery Bell State Park fills the hollows around Lake Acorn, Creech Hollow Lake and Lake Woodhaven, while Beaverdam Creek and Will Hall Creek wind through the low ground closer in.
That mix of parkland, creek bottoms and ridgetop parcels is why so many projects in Burns start with clearing. The stretch of Highway 96 between downtown and the interstate keeps filling in with new homes and commercial lots, and subdivisions like Hickory Cove, Porter Road Place and TD Equestrian Acres off Spencer Mill Road sit next to acreage that has not been touched in years. Whether it is a five-acre wooded homesite off Garton Road or a back pasture off Eastside Road that has gone to cedar and briar, a land clearing contractor in Burns has to open the ground, deal with the roots and rock, and leave a surface that drains on Highland Rim silt.
Freedom Land Management does not drive in to do that work. Josh Tant started the business here in Burns in January 2019 and still runs the machine on nearly every job, so a Burns estimate is a short trip across town instead of an hour on I-40. Over the years that has meant clearing acreage, tearing down and clearing old structures, and getting homesites ready to build across town and out toward the park — work done in front of the neighbors.
